excerpts from lunares, book by Hyeree Ro:

lunares is a project that emerged from an unexpected death I faced in the summer of 2022. Since the beginning of my artistic practice, I have been working with performances that explore the relationship between object, body, and words. This type of performance began as a way to give form to the experience of seeing my father again after 13 years. The sudden passing of my father, who was neither close nor distant, made me rethink my performance works.

lunares in Spanish refers to moles, spots, and marks on the skin. It also shares the etymology with “luna” in Latin, which means the Moon. Moles form over time under the influence of the Sun but are also believed to be by the influence of the Moon. They are the physical manifestation of various influences that reside within you and that surface over time.
